The Espace San Bernardo is a unique ski area that straddles the border between France and Italy. A great place to practise all kinds of winter sport, the ski area boasts a variety of marked slopes, forest trails and wide expanses of off-piste terrain.
Once just an expanse of Alpine grassland, La Rosière has been an important link between France’s Haute Tarentaise Valley and Italy’s Aosta Valley since ancient times. Its ski area acts as a passageway between the two countries, between two regions that have been forged by their own traditions. This winter, strap on your skis and embark on a journey to explore
two different cultures.
On the French side, enjoy exceptional snow cover combined with glorious sunshine and magnificent sunsets. As you ski around the mountainside, admire outstanding sites such as the ruined Fort de La Redoute with its stunning 360° views and the beautiful Ecudets forest that leads down to Séez. As you ski over the border, marvel at the remoteness of the Petit-Saint-Bernard or “Piccolo San Bernardo” pass and the symbolic beacon of the Petit-Saint-Bernard Hospice, a place that has welcomed in weary travellers since the 11th century.
Over on the Italian side, discover very different north-facing slopes under the watchful eye of Mont Blanc and treat yourself to some delicious Aosta Valley gastronomy. If time allows, stop off to look around the village of La Thuile or indulge in a spot of pampering at the Pré Saint Didier thermal spa for a touch of the real Dolce Vita. Visit La Rosière - Espace San Bernardo for a truly different skiing experience!
